In Lviv region authorities stopped the activity of 20 parishes of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church

Starting in February 2022, the Lviv Regional Administration terminated the activities of 20 parishes of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. However, it is reported that 9 parishes of the UOC still operate in the region. This was announced by the deputy head of the military administration of the region Ivan Sobko in response to a request from journalists, according to the regional publication Dyvys.Info.
“As of October of this year, nine religious communities that are in unity with the Moscow Patriarchate have been registered in the Lviv region. Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, a quarter of a hundred religious communities have changed their affiliation from the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, which is in unity with the Moscow Patriarchate, to the Orthodox Church of Ukraine. At the same time, another 20 religious communities ceased their activities on their own initiative,” — the official said.
Earlier we reported that the Lviv Regional State Administration demands that the religious communities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church remaining in the region join the OCU by the end of the year. According to the relevant officials of the regional state administration, this should happen as part of “decommunization” and the fight against the UOC in the region.
