Earlier, we reported that the United Nations published the final report of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, which points out the inconsistency of the norms of the scandalous law No. 3894, aimed at banning the activities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, with international law. The document states that Ukraine failed to substantiate the need for and proportionality of measures aimed at banning religious organizations.
Head of DESS defends law banning UOC to OSCE

On April 7, 2025, the head of the State Service of Ukraine for Ethnic Policy and Freedom of Conscience, Viktor Yelensky, met with an OSCE delegation led by the High Commissioner on National Minorities, Christoph Kamp. Among the issues discussed, the OSCE representatives drew the attention of the Ukrainian official to the anti-church law No. 3894, which bans the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. This is reported by the SSEPFC website.
It is reported that during the meeting, Christoph Kamp raised the issue of ensuring freedom of religion, in particular in the context of Law No. 3894 “On the Protection of the Constitutional Order in the Field of Religious Organizations”, which was adopted to ban the activities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. In response, the Head of the SSEPFC noted that “this law in no way restricts religious freedoms, but is exclusively of a security nature.” According to Yelensky, it is about the need to break the organizational ties of religious structures with centers subordinate to the Russian Orthodox Church, which “is a matter of national security, not interference with faith or religious practice.”
