Another court hearing in the case of Metropolitan Theodosius held in Cherkasy

On April 10, 2025, the Sosnovsky District Court of Cherkasy held a regular court hearing in one of the criminal cases brought against the hierarch of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Theodosius of Cherkasy and Kaniv. This time, the court studied the video of the searches in the defendant’s apartment. The judge agreed with the request of the bishop’s defense to ban photo and video recording of evidence. «At the next meeting, we will continue to examine written materials, namely the first volume. It contains material evidence, as well as inspection reports and other written materials,» — said the prosecutor in the case Vadym Kolomiyets.

Earlier, Metropolitan Theodosius of Cherkasy and Kaniv commented on the situation with the aggression against the UOC in Cherkasy region and in the country as a whole. The Metropolitan called the seizure of UOC churches “legal anarchy”, emphasizing that no one is responsible for the beating of priests and people that occurs during raider attacks.
