"We got it!": Representatives of OCU plant state flag on fence of closed UOC church in Lviv region

On May 5, 2025, representatives and adherents of the OCU in the city of Brody, Lviv region, held religious events under the fence of the closed church of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in honor of the Holy Myrrh-Bearing Wives. After the meeting, supporters of the OCU attached a Ukrainian flag to the fence of the church, thus “celebrating” the patronal feast of the closed church of the UOC, which is privately owned and therefore free from the risk of encroachment by raiders. This is reported by LEOPOLIS.NEWS.
It is reported that the religious community of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in honor of the Holy Myrrh-Bearing Wives of Brody, Lviv region, was forcibly re-registered to the OCU back in 2023. However, since then, representatives of the Ukrainian schism have been unable to enter the church of the UOC community, as they have no legal grounds for doing so. In this regard, the OCU side is constantly exerting pressure on the priest and believers of the UOC, who did not betray their Church and remained faithful to their own beliefs.
“Let’s unite around the Ukrainian throne. Let’s look for what unites us, not what divides us. And what unites us all is God in the Holy Trinity, the Most Holy Mother of God and all the holy lands of Ukraine. We are united by the holy Orthodox faith, we are united by love for our long-suffering homeland. And what separates us is the ‘Russian world’ and the unwillingness to build our local church here, in our home,“ – said the newly appointed ”rector” of the re-registered UOC community.
Earlier we reported that the OCU community, in whose favor the Holy Protection Church in Kirovohrad was taken from the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, announced a collection of church utensils for the seized religious building. The OCU complained that the UOC community had taken all their belongings from the church during the eviction, and therefore they are forced to appeal to the public to provide church utensils, household appliances and furniture for the church.
