“The issue was raised at the wrong time”: MP Zub explains why he did not vote for the law banning the UOC

Valeriy Zub, a member of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine from the Servant of the People party, explained why he did not vote for anti-church law No. 3894, which was aimed at banning the activities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The MP is convinced that it is inappropriate to adopt laws that will divide society, especially during the war. The MP said this in a commentary to Suspilne.Chernihiv.

«I explained my position. By the way, I voiced it even at the faction when this issue was discussed. I believe that it was not the right time to raise this issue. This is the period when there is a war going on, when confrontation in society is growing, when we already have a lot of issues and problems that, indeed, lead to such an unstable situation. You can see how much this bill, how many scandalous situations it has created. And we know who is behind it all, who instigated it, who tried to introduce it, what it was all about. This is purely, you know, more politics than faith», — said the MP.

Earlier, MP of the Servant of the People party Georgiy Mazurashu once again criticized the anti-church law No. 3894, which is aimed at banning the activities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The deputy is convinced that the responsibility for violating certain state laws should be borne by the people who commit these crimes, and not by the entire organization to which the offenders may be related.
