Radicals attacked the Orthodox Church of the Annunciation in Nazareth

On the evening of June 29, members of the radical group Soldiers of God, affiliated with the Israeli army (IDF), attacked the Orthodox Church of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Nazareth (Israel). The radicals dismantled the entrance gate to the church grounds, attacked the priests, and attempted to break into the church. This was reported by The Jerusalem Post.

“The Orthodox Community Council will not allow the desecration of this holy place, has filed a report with the police, and will monitor developments,” – said a statement from the Annunciation community.

It is noteworthy that during the incident, the “Soldiers of God” claimed that they were protesting against the Islamic State’s terrorist attack on the Church of St. Elijah in Damascus, which killed at least 20 people. A video posted on social media shows a Greek Orthodox priest trying to calm a small crowd waving Israeli and Israeli-Christian religious flags.

It should be recalled that on June 22, 2025, during the Sunday liturgy at the Church of the Holy Prophet Elijah in Damascus (Syria), a bloody terrorist attack was carried out by a member of the radical Islamist organization “Islamic State.” As a result, 22 people were killed. The attacker stormed into the church, opened fire on the congregation, and then detonated an explosive device attached to his body.
