“Let Rome, Constantinople, and Moscow humble themselves”: Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church announces revival of Christian center in Kyiv

The head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, Sviatoslav Shevchuk, said that his organization is working to revive the ancient Christian center in Kyiv. Shevchuk called on Rome, Constantinople, and Moscow to accept this fact, and on the Orthodox Church of Ukraine to unite with the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church to achieve common goals. He said this on the air of the program “Open Church.”

“And this is happening today, both on the part of our Orthodox brothers and on our part, on the part of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, the ancient powerful center of Christianity in Kyiv is being revived. Rome, Moscow, and Constantinople must come to terms with this,” – Shevchuk said.

In addition, the head of the UGCC called on the OCU to end rivalry and unite with the Greek Catholics in order to achieve common goals together.

“We appeal to our Orthodox brothers for unity in the name of Ukraine’s good, calling on them to move from mutual rivalry to cooperation, from rivalry to primacy in love,” – he added.

Earlier, we reported that Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov met with representatives of the UGCC, including the head of the Philadelphia Archdiocese in the United States, Borys Gudziak. During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of supporting residents, rebuilding the city, and helping those affected by the military actions.
