Historical church in Lviv region transferred to the ownership of the community

In Skvaryava village, Zolochevsky district, Lviv region, the historical church of the early XX century was transferred to the ownership of the local territorial community. This became possible due to the actions of the Zolochevsky District Prosecutor’s Office, which enforced the relevant court decision on the return of the building, previously considered ownerless.

According to the Information Policy Department of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the office filed a lawsuit with the court to transfer the building into communal ownership. The reason for this was the fact that after the church was registered as ownerless property, during more than a year no person has not declared his rights to it.

It is about the Catholic church, built in Art Nouveau style by the project of Zolochev city architect Yakov Kuras. The building is of historical and architectural value, particularly due to its original tower-like shape of the dome. The total area of the building is 250 square meters, and its estimated value is UAH 1.6 million.

To date, the court decision has been fully implemented: the communal ownership of the building has been entered into the State Register of Real Property Rights. Thus, thanks to the intervention of the Prosecutor’s Office, the community was able to preserve and return under its care an important historical object.

Recall, earlier we reported that at the suit of the Prosecutor’s Office of Dnepropetrovsk region, the court ordered to officially register the right of state ownership of the Holy Trinity Cathedral of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Novomoskovsk (Samar), which is the tallest wooden church in Ukraine. The temple is a unique architectural monument of national importance and was previously used by the local Holy Trinity community of the UOC.
