Head of OCU meets with new Czech Ambassador to Ukraine

on November 11, 2025, the head of the OCU, Epiphany Dumenko, met with the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to Ukraine, Luboš Vesely. During the meeting, which took place at Dumenko’s residence in Kyiv, the parties discussed key aspects of bilateral relations, support for Ukrainian refugees and other issues of mutual interest.

At the beginning of the conversation, according to the press service of the OCU, Epiphany Dumenko spoke about his recent visit to Prague, where he met with the President and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic. He expressed his deep gratitude to the Czech people and government for the comprehensive support they provide to Ukraine in difficult wartime.

During the meeting, the parties discussed international politics, the religious situation in Ukraine and the important role of faith in the face of modern challenges. The meeting was also attended by Third Secretary of the Embassy Monika Toshnerova.

Earlier, we reported that Ukrainian schismatics had formed a “chaplaincy mission” in the canonical territory of the Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia. The actual parish of the OCU in the Czech Republic will operate in the city of Brno, and the first religious event was held on August 23, 2025. The OCU is not deterred by the fact that the opening of parishes abroad is expressly prohibited by the “Tomos of Autocephaly”, which provides for the organization’s functioning only within Ukraine.
