The Tulchin Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church reported that an archpriest had been detained by TRC officers

On June 15, 2026, a high-profile incident occurred in the Tulchin Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church: officers from the Territorial Recruitment Center (TRC) detained Archpriest Alexander Grodzenko, a clergyman of the diocese. According to reports on social media, the clergyman’s whereabouts currently remain unknown, and the legal grounds for such coercive actions have not been disclosed.

Representatives of the faithful have already circulated a call for prayerful support on social media, expressing serious concern for the archpriest’s fate. The situation is complicated by the lack of official comments regarding the reasons and circumstances of the detention.

As a reminder, on June 13, 2026, officers from the Territorial Recruitment Center detained Andriy Virny, a deacon at the Church of the Three Saints of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. According to his relatives, the clergyman has a valid official deferment from mobilization as the father of three children; however, he was held at the Territorial Recruitment Center and later sent to a military training ground for training. There are also reports of insults directed at the deacon and his wife because of their affiliation with the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
