Mass Conversion to Orthodoxy in North Carolina: 24 People Joined the Church

Last weekend, October 24 and 25, the Greek Orthodox parish of the Holy Trinity in Asheville, North Carolina (U.S.), announced a significant event. Over the course of two days, 24 new parishioners joined the Orthodox Church.
According to a from the parish, 23 people were baptized into the Orthodox faith on Saturday, and one more person was received into the Church through the Sacrament of Chrismation on Sunday. The church’s rector, Father Ioannis Kapones, expressed his gratitude to God for this event and emphasized the importance of spiritual support for the new converts on their journey of faith.
Interest in Orthodoxy within the community remains high: currently, about 40 people are undergoing catechesis in preparation for receiving the faith. The Holy Trinity Parish, founded in 1922, is undergoing a new phase of spiritual and administrative renewal under the leadership of Father Ioannis. Since the fall of 2024, work has been underway in the church to decorate the interior with icons, and educational programs for children, youth, and families are being actively developed.
As a reminder, we previously reported that in July 2026, mass baptisms took place in Central African countries, conducted by representatives of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa of the Russian Orthodox Church.
