“Depends on the elections in the U.S.,” - MP Dmytruk on the application of the law about the ban of the UOC

Ukrainian MP Artem Dmytruk spoke about the possible consequences if Bill 8371, aimed at banning the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, is passed. The MP believes that its application will directly depend on the results of the presidential election in the United States, and the law itself will become a way of additional blackmail of the Church by the Ukrainian government. He wrote about this in his Telegram channel.

“According to one scenario, the bill will come into force only a year after it is signed by the President. To do this, the persecutors may try to sneak in appropriate amendments to the bill. In another scenario, the President may not sign the bill at all. All this gives the persecutors the opportunity to manipulate the situation depending on the political situation in the United States. In particular, the outcome of the US election may affect further developments. If Harris wins, the law will come into force. If Trump wins, the law will be blocked,” – the MP said.

Dmytruk added that the adoption of the law banning the UOC would be an additional way to manipulate the Church. He urged not to despair but to hold on to the true Church and its Primate.

“What does this mean? The persecutors are using this bill as a tool of pressure and manipulation, and the whole situation can still change depending on political decisions overseas. Time will tell how events will develop, but one thing we must know is that all of us Orthodox Christians need to stand side by side, to hold on to our Faith, our Primate!”, – Artem Dmytruk summarized.

We shall remind you that the Radio Liberty weekly, citing its own sources, reported that the US political establishment is critical of the initiative of Ukrainian MPs to ban the Ukrainian Orthodox Church by adopting the scandalous draft law No 8371. This is why, according to the publication, this law was not voted on Tuesday, July 23, in the Ukrainian Parliament.
