Kiev city authorities plan to demolish several more UOC churches

The Kyiv City State Administration is considering the possibility of demolishing several more churches of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church located in the capital. These are the churches of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in Podil, All Holy Warriors in Peremoha Park, and the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God, located near the Artem plant. These conclusions can be drawn from the response of the Kyiv City State Administration to a journalistic inquiry on this issue. This was reported by Slidstvo.info.
“The relevant inspection reports were drawn up and sent to the Dnipro, Podil and Shevchenkivskyi District Prosecutor’s Offices, as well as to the Department of Territorial Control of the City of Kyiv of the executive body of the Kyiv City Council (Kyiv City State Administration) for response measures within the limits of the powers granted, in particular, to dismantle illegally placed religious buildings,” — the KCSA said in response to the request.
As reported, a well-known lobbyist for the interests of the OCU, head of the Department of Religious Studies of the Institute of Philosophy of the National Academy of Sciences, Oleksandr Sagan, believes that “civil society” should be involved in the demolition of churches of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Kyiv. Sagan is convinced that the Kyiv City Council will not dismantle the UOC’s “self-built” churches, so “concerned citizens” should do it.
