Trump's inaugural prayer to be led by RCC cardinal

The Catholic Archbishop of New York, Cardinal Timothy Dolan, will conduct the inaugural prayer of US President-elect Donald Trump on January 20, 2025. Dolan personally announced the news during an interview with the local news channel WPIX24. He has already conducted an inaugural prayer during the inauguration of the newly elected President of the United States – for the same Donald Trump, in 2017, after his victory in the 2016 election. This is reported by CREDO.

The cardinal said in an interview that he discussed with Trump (who was a Presbyterian in his youth and now presents himself as a non-denominational Christian) issues of faith. Dolan assured that President-elect Trump “takes his Christian faith seriously.” Cardinal Dolan noted: Trump “knows that something mystical happened during the last two assassination attempts” that were made during his presidential campaign in 2024.

It is also reported that Donald Trump will organize an interfaith prayer service on Sunday, January 19, 2025, on the eve of his inauguration.

Earlier, the head of the Greek Archdiocese of the United States (Patriarchate of Constantinople), Archbishop Elpidophoros (Lambriniadis) of America, congratulated Donald Trump on his election as President of the United States of America. Elpidophoros also addressed a congratulatory speech to the future Vice President of the United States, J. D. Vance.
