Greek Catholics open parish for Ukrainians in Ireland

The UGCC is gradually increasing its presence in Europe. This time, the organization’s press service announced the opening of a “pastoral mission” in Ireland. According to the UGCC, Ukrainian immigrants are involved in the events organized by the denomination in the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul in Portlaoise (Ireland). This is reported by the UGCC website.
“Everyone who comes here, to the holy church, can feel loved and listened to, no one will lack Divine love. Every day, when we look at the cross and the crucified Love on it, we notice His outstretched arms that serve us, His hanging head that silently bends to hear our heart, and His pierced side, which opens for us the immeasurable depth of Divine mercy,” — said Andriy Sovyak, head of the UGCC ‘mission’ in Portlysh.
According to the UGCC, religious events at this address will be held regularly.
It should be noted that on April 12, 2025, religious events organized by Ukrainian Greek Catholics were held on the island of Crete (Greece). To hold them, a church in honor of John the Baptist was allocated in Heraklion for the needs of the UGCC. The events were attended by representatives of the Ukrainian Consulate in Crete and members of the diaspora.
