Shopping mall planned near cemetery outside Lviv

In the village of Mali Pidlysky, part of the Lviv Territorial Community, a large shopping mall with several entrances is planned to be built on Pivdenna Street — despite the fact that the distance from the future building to the local cemetery is only about 250 meters. This was reported by Espreso.

The project has already been reviewed for the second time by the Architectural and Urban Planning Council. Previously, architects had doubts about compliance with the sanitary protection zone. However, the developer received an “explanation” from environmental experts stating that both grocery and non-grocery stores can allegedly be located even within such zones.

Following remarks, the developer moved the building slightly deeper into the plot, reduced the building footprint from 50% to 45%, and promised to add a bike lane.

Earlier, we reported that Chernivtsi religious scholar-provocateur Oleksandr Brodetsky claimed he had complained to the Security Service of Ukraine about the sale of “pro-Russian” literature in churches of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Chernivtsi. Brodetsky alleges that the SBU responds weakly to the “facts” he has documented, as the Chernivtsi Diocese of the UOC, according to him, deceives the security services.
