In Belfast, thousands of believers took part in a unifying 'March for Jesus'

Last Saturday, a large-scale interfaith event «March for Jesus» took place in Belfast, attracting thousands of participants. According to Christian Today, the event was non-political in nature and aimed at demonstrating the unity of Christian communities in Northern Ireland.

Organizers described the event as «a declaration that Jesus is Lord over this city.» They said the atmosphere of the event was filled with joy and faith, and every action — from chants to raised banners — was dedicated solely to Christ. Participant Deborah McCracken, in a comment to the BBC quoted by the source, said, «We are all here in unity to glorify Jesus and let people know that he is the hope of the world.»

The peacemaking role of the march was emphasized. Historically, such marches in Belfast have often been the occasion for clashes between Catholics and Protestants, but the organizers of the March for Jesus deliberately distanced themselves from politics. Participants were advised not to use national flags to avoid associations with the sectoral tensions of past years. Instead, placards with the words «Our Nation for Jesus» were used.

The program of the event included prayers, public testimonies of faith, worship services and children’s activities. The scale of the action confirms the growing interest in similar initiatives: last year’s march in Belfast attracted around 8,000 people, while a similar event in Dublin brought together 25,000 participants. As one of those present, Luke Dean from the USA, noted, in times of uncertainty and «darkness», such gatherings give people hope and a sense of light.
