Another UOC community in Bukovyna appeals to US government over raider attack by OCU

The Holy Dormition religious community of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the village of Dubivtsi, Chernivtsi region, recorded an appeal to the US government, Vice President Jay Vance, and the UN Human Rights Monitoring Group and the OSCE due to the threat of seizure of their church by supporters of the OCU. According to representatives of the UOC community, this time the supporters of the OCU did not even hold the traditional “voting for the change of jurisdictional affiliation” but simply imitated the meeting by sending documents for re-registration to the Chernivtsi Regional State Administration. The appeal was published on the Facebook account of the religious community.

“It is known that false documents are being prepared for our church. There is a possibility of a forceful seizure of the church, which may cause harm to our believers. To date, similar gatherings and forcible seizures of UOC churches are taking place in our Bukovina and throughout Ukraine, and this is during martial law. We are Ukrainians, we are against the religious hatred incited by supporters of the OCU. We love God, our Church, our native Ukraine, our people, our land,” — the believers said.

Earlier, we reported that the St. Basil’s religious community of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the village of Pidzakharychi, Chernivtsi region, recorded an appeal addressed to the US government and US Vice President Jay Vance, asking them to influence the situation with the upcoming seizure of the local church by representatives of the OCU. The rector and parishioners point out that on their behalf, a so-called territorial meeting was held in the local house of culture, attended by about 60 people who voted for the “transfer” of St. Basil’s Church of the UOC to the OCU, while the community members of the canonical Church number more than 170, but their position is not taken into account.
