Earlier, we reported that the St. Basil’s religious community of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the village of Pidzakharychi, Chernivtsi region, recorded an appeal addressed to the US government and US Vice President Jay Vance, asking them to influence the situation with the upcoming seizure of the local church by representatives of the OCU. The rector and parishioners point out that on their behalf, a so-called territorial meeting was held in the local house of culture, attended by about 60 people who voted for the “transfer” of St. Basil’s Church of the UOC to the OCU, while the community members of the canonical Church number more than 170, but their position is not taken into account.
“We made a mistake": Bukovina UOC community withdraws its request for protection sent to US Vice President

Representatives of the St. Basil’s religious community of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the village of Pidzakharychi, Chernivtsi region, who appealed for help to US Vice President Jay DeVance in connection with the preparations for the seizure of their church, recorded a new appeal in which they refused their previous request. The believers stated that they had made a mistake when they appealed to the US government for protection from the actions of the OCU supporters. The new appeal was published on the community’s Facebook page.
“On January 30 of this year, we made a mistake when we made public our public appeal to the US government, namely to Vice President J.D. Vance, regarding the violation of the rights of members of our religious community. In light of recent events in the world, we realized that this appeal only worsened the attitude of the international community towards Ukraine. In this difficult time for Ukraine, we must unite to support our soldiers who are defending the country from the Russian aggressor. We remain loving Orthodox Christians of the UOC under the leadership of His Beatitude Onuphry and hope that the Lord will grant each of us the intelligence and Christian love that will allow us to face the challenges we face in these difficult times,” — the video message reads.
