Kyiv hosts interfaith forum with participation of “Trump's confessor”

Mark Burns, the personal spiritual adviser to US President Donald Trump, arrived in Ukraine, where he took part in an interfaith forum with representatives of religious organizations in the country. Burns received an invitation to visit Ukraine from Chief Rabbi of Ukraine Moshe Reuven Asman. This was reported by Interfax-Ukraine.

“First of all, Pastor Burns and I went to Bucha, Irpin and Borodianka so that he could see with his own eyes the consequences of the crimes of the Russian army against the civilian population of Ukraine and personally hear the memories of witnesses who survived this terrible occupation. What he saw deeply affected him — he did not hide his pain, indignation and sincere sympathy. I am sure that these emotions and testimonies will not remain with him personally. Pastor Burns is a man who has the ability to be heard where big decisions are made,” — Asman wrote on Facebook.

We recently reported that the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom published a report on the observance of religious freedom in the world for 2024. The document pays special attention to the situation with the violation of the rights of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The report points out that the anti-church law No. 3894, which was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in August 2024, risks establishing in Ukraine a form of collective responsibility of an entire religious organization for the beliefs of its individual members.
