"In order not to be ashamed": religious scholar calls on Romanian-speaking parishes of UOC to join OCU

Religious scholar and OCU lobbyist Oleksandr Brodetskyi called on Romanian-speaking parishes of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church to join the OCU. Brodetsky noted that the OCU has created a Romanian vicariate, which guarantees the preservation of all the traditions inherent in Bukovinian culture, and the transition to this structure will be an opportunity for Romanian-speaking parishes to “wash away the shame” of belonging to the UOC. He said this in a commentary to Espresso.Zakhid.

“I would like to emphasize that it has been several years since the autocephalous OCU created the Romanian Vicariate in its structure. That is, it guarantees Romanian-speaking parishes the preservation of worship in their language and other national and cultural rights. And in the OCU, they would not have the shame of belonging to a church affiliated with aggressive Moscow, which is the Onufrian UOC,” — Brodetsky noted.

Earlier, we reported that 20 clergymen of the Chernivtsi Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church announced their transfer to the Romanian Patriarchate. It is reported that the clergy of the UOC were forced to take such a step due to the fact that in Bukovyna there is virtually no protection from the raider actions of the OCU, which, in the last few months, has been especially active in seizing the temples of the canonical Church.
