Viktor Yelensky complained about attempts to impose US sanctions on him

Viktor Yelensky, head of the State Service of Ukraine for Ethnic Policy and Freedom of Conscience, complained that the Ukrainian Orthodox Church is trying to get personal sanctions imposed on him by the United States. The official believes that in this way he is being pressured and Ukraine is being discredited. He said this in an interview with Radio Liberty.

“They demand that the United States impose sanctions on me. When there was a prayer breakfast in Washington, during the Religious Freedom Forum, a person hired by Vadym Novynskyi (Robert Amsterdam — ed.) said various things about me and in an interview. Instead of reaching an understanding with the state, they act in such a way and discredit Ukraine. But we will resist and fight,” — Yelensky said.

As reported, recently the head of the international human rights company Amsterdam & Partners LLP, Robert Amsterdam, who represents the legal interests of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, announced his readiness to take legal action if the Ukrainian government continues to put pressure on the UOC.
