US military personnel complain about religious propaganda for war with Iran and statements about Trump's "anointed Jesus"

U.S. military personnel are massively expressing dissatisfaction with the command, which they say is actively pushing the idea of a religiously-based war against Iran. The situation has escalated to the point where officers are openly declaring the «biblically sanctioned» nature of the conflict, claiming that President Donald Trump has been «anointed by Jesus» to unleash Armageddon.

According to the Daily Storm, citing journalist Jonathan Larsen, the Military Religious Freedom Defense Fund has received more than 110 complaints since Feb. 28. These complaints came from soldiers from 40 different units stationed at least 30 bases around the world.

In their appeals, the soldiers point out that commanders are in a state of euphoria, convincing personnel that Donald Trump is «anointed by Jesus to light a signal fire in Iran that will trigger Armageddon and mark God’s return to Earth.» Such statements, it is emphasized, directly violate Army regulations requiring commanders to maintain strict religious neutrality.

The situation is exacerbated by the fact that, according to Larsen, current Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth himself sets an example by holding monthly prayer meetings at the department. Moreover, each week a preacher addresses the troops, claiming that God commands the U.S. to support Israel.

The journalist notes that Christian nationalism «has been smoldering in the military for decades,» but that this rhetoric has increased significantly under the Trump administration. The president himself, according to Larsen, positions himself as a defender of Christian exceptionalism and actively introduces this ideology even in civilian agencies. However, the author reminds that such sentiments have been manifested before: after the attacks of September 11, George Bush Jr. called the fight against terrorism «crusade».

Recall that in connection with the sharp escalation of tensions in the Middle East after the beginning of the US-Israeli military operation against Iran and Tehran’s retaliatory strikes, the World Council of Churches issued calls for an immediate cessation of hostilities and the resumption of diplomatic dialog.
